Safe and healthy working conditions are important both in our own organisation and also in the supply chain, mainly connected with construction work in our properties. Internally, we continuously run a program to promote a healthy working environment and lifestyle, including encouraging and incentivising daily exercise and ensuring an ergonomical workplace. With regard to suppliers (mainly building entrepreneurs), we evaluate their work on health & safety through various means (annual surveys, ad hoc on site inspections etc), request data on any accidents, and follow up incidents at regular meetings with them.

We have set a target (to 2025) regarding suppliers' compliance with key labour principles set out in our Code of Conduct, whereby we expect 100% of our strategic suppliers (prioritized suppliers with activities in our properties corresponding to about 40% of total suppliers to comply with the CoC based on our assessment of them. For non-compliant suppliers, we will initiate a dialogue and agree on appropriate corrective actions. In addition, we have targets and activities relating to own employees in regard to labour principles, e.g. health and safety (sick leave below 3%) and non-discrimination.

We have taken action to make our properties more resilient, including implementing physical and non-physical climate adaptation measures for buildings at risk of being impacted by climate change. A number of actions have been taken during the reporting period, including revising/updating goals for energy use, carbon emissions, environmental certifications (which encompass several environmental aspects besides energy/climate, e.g. resource use, waste, water etc.). We have made several buildings considerably more energy efficient by installing innovative heating/cooling pumps (reducing energy use by as much as 50%). We have introduced an internal price on carbon which we use to assess building projects and select construction contractors that we wish to engage (those that can present a proposal with the lowest carbon impact and therefore cheapest).
