The launch for equality between both sexes 2021-2023 plan was formalised in October 2021 with a declaration of commitment to the UN Women Empowerment Principles (WEP) by our CEO Vincent Favier. In 2021, the company also supported a specific development training for women managers for one employee and facilitated access to a professional network for women in the sector. A survey has been done internally on professional equality between sexes in the company and to see which employees are involved in associations that support women. This allowed us to put in place an action plan. The company has had multiple actions regarding promoting labour rights and health and safety within the workspace. Campaigns on the company’s golden rules were done in Portugal as well as employee awareness regarding equal professional opportunities. On the 26th of April for World Safety day Ecoslops Provence organized an exchange with external companies present on site regarding the company’s golden rules. Furthermore the company has offered various health and safety training programs to ensure that all employees are in a safe environment. In total the group has performed 95 hours of health and safety training. Since the beginning of the company there has been zero serious injuries. In 2021 we have also integrated HSE criteria into our sustainable purchasing policy.

    Overall Environment

    21. Briefly describe practical actions the company has taken during the reporting period and/or plans to take to implement the environment principles, including any challenges faced and actions taken towards prevention and/or remediation.

The purpose of this company is to recycle waste produce, with the circular economy and energy transition being at the core of what this company stands for. The first Scarabox, our modular treatment unit, will be implemented in Kribi, Cameroun in 2022. All our units and projects are aimed at reducing hydrocarbon waste, including used lub oil, and improving our carbon footprint. Recycling and reusing is essential throughout all of our processes, no matter how small the waste. After all every action counts; big and small. The company has taken varying actions to protect the environment. A ‘no plastic plan’ (FAPU) was implemented to eliminate the consumption of plastic within our company. Ropes have also been collected from the port of Sines and donated to several local organisations such as the Safari Park (used as games for the primates) and the Black Pig Gin Villa for decoration and children activities (i.e. swings). The company is also attempting to assess the life cycle of the products used at our unit in Sines. We are also trying to instal LEDs at Sines to reduce our electricity consumption. Furthermore, new technology and methods are continuously being tested in our manufacturing process to reduce the amount of water used and treated. This includes reducing the water consumption for our steam boilers to improve water treatment.  A sustainable mobility package has been set up for the company’s Paris HQ where half of the workforce cycles to work. This is also given to individuals that use public transport, in the hopes of promoting more environmentally friendly methods of transport. In addition, the paper we use has an eco-label and all printers have a default setting to print in white and black. In accordance, all wastes at our sites are highly organised and recycled and plastics are no longer used in the company thanks to our ‘no plastic’ plan (FAPU).  The company is also working with Nature 2050 to protect biodiversity, so far restoring 208.33 metres squared and having an initial awareness-raising programme for the employees in 2021 on climate change. Since 2020 Ecoslops has also signed the Sustainable Ocean Principles which attempts to build upon and complement the ten core principles of the United Nations Global Compact. We are also committed to helping our suppliers follow the energy transition movement by asking them to follow our sustainable purchasing charter.
