We have three systematic approaches to evaluating the Eczacıbaşı Group's equal opportunities performance in employment. We look at the share of women in recruitment, overall professional employment, and management with the aim of maintaining their share in recruitment at 50 percent and increasing their shares in overall employment and management to respectively 40 and 35 percent. We are pleased that the presence of women in both overall employment and management increased in 2021 and expect this momentum to continue in the year ahead. In our Group we have a high retention of women colleagues, which we are proud. Eczacıbaşı Group Companies have a high employee satisfaction of women employees, which could be also seen by the analysis of ‘Recruitment’ and ‘Professional Employment’ of women. In 2021, the Eczacıbaşı Group continued to focus its equal opportunities efforts on business functions employing relatively lower ratios of women. To this end, we created a second function-focused committee – Women in Technology – to help us raise the recruitment and retention of women in this field.  We are happy to see that both this new committee and our ongoing Women in Sales and Technical Positions committee are making a positive impact on our employment figures. eside these KPIs, all function-focused committees have their specific action plans. Women in Technology Committee aims to cooperate with the universities to have specific lectures and participation to the activities more, to attract students in order to increase the number of women interns in Technology. Along with this base, committee also started to conduct a function-specific mentorship program, where the women colleagues support each other along with coaching program for the management level. Women is Sales committee has their own attraction-retention-development actions, namely attract more women interns, cooperation with ‘Sales Network, Lead Network” platforms, university cooperation, support in ‘after maternity leave’ process, development and mentorship programs for women in Sales. Women in Technical Positions Committee follows-up all ratios company based to focus and close the gap instantly. The targets set within this committee are recruitment of women employees instead of left women employees, focus groups for women employee experience feedback, analysis of leave reasons in blue-collar.

    Overall Environment

Management of our impact on the climate and environment is part of our main business strategy. Our priorities with respect to the climate and environment are ensuring efficiency in energy and water consumption, investing in renewable energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, recycling, and adopting circular economy practices. Reducing the energy consumption and greenhouse gases resulting from our activities is one of the main objectives of our efforts to combat climate crisis. Our practices in this area are determined within the framework of the targets and action plans set by our working group responsible for related issues in coordination with the Sustainability Directorate. The water use performance in all our organizations is monitored and followed via targets and the results are reported to the senior management. Energy consumption per product decreased 3.5% at the end of 2021 compared to the base year of 2020. The target is reducing energy consumption by 4% per ton of output in 2023. Water withdrawal per product decreased 11% at the end of 2021 compared to the base year of 2020. The target is reducing water withdrawal by 7% per ton of output in 2023. In addition to energy and water efficiency, renewable energy investments are among the areas where we will gain momentum in the coming period. We aim to increase our renewable energy investments, which we have an installed capacity of 1.70 MW in 2021, to 10 MW in 2022 and to a total of 44 MW by the end of 2024. As Eczacıbaşı Group, we consider the environmental impact of every stage of production, starting from product design. We adopt the circular economy principle in our operations. Waste management, resource efficiency and the use of waste as a resource have an important place in our work. For example, In VitrA Tiles, we use industrial treatment sludge from Eczacıbaşı Building Products Ceramic Sanitary Ware facility as an alternative raw material, and we implement industrial symbiosis within the Group's organizations. As a result of these practices, our product portfolio includes items with 30% recycled material content. Our innovative products and services, our R&D and innovation activities in production processes play an important role in increasing our ESG performance. In this context, we carried out 95 R&D projects in our Innovation and R&D Centers throughout the Group in 2021. We increased the total number of active national applications to 345 with 95 new patent applications, and the total number of registered national patents to 71 with 17 new registrations. Eczacıbaşı Group carries out effective management of sustainability risks such as natural disasters, extreme weather events, climate change, biological diversity, efficient use of natural resources, recycling and circular economy, employee rights and equal opportunity, contribution to stakeholder economy and sustainable economic growth.
