The shareholder is represented by four members of the German Federal Parliament (members of the Budget Committee) and five representatives of the German Government (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Federal Ministry of Finance, the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conversation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection), as well as one representative of the Bavarian State Chancellery.     GIZ enganges in various foras against corruption, e.g. is member of the TI Germany Corporative Forum, Alliance for Integrity (AfI), Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI)

    8. Briefly describe practical actions the company has taken during the reporting period and/or plans to take to implement the anti-corruption principle, including any challenges faced and actions taken towards prevention and/or remediation.

    In 2020, GIZ published the Anti-Corruption Policy which reflects GIZ’s policy of zero tolerance in all cases of corruption. In 2021, GIZ conducted a comprehensive assessment to identify all areas of work particularly susceptible to corruption. Based on the following risk analysis, specific measures were were identified to further improve prevention of corruption, like e.g. adaptations in GIZ's rotation policy and country specific measures. A response body was established in 2021. Its purpose is to ensure consistent handling of legal consequences against GIZ employees in response to all cases of corruption in Germany and abroad. In addition, client requirements are constantly reviewed and GIZ's internal rules and procedures adapted accordingly. Further, GIZ makes sure to these requirements are passed on to GIZ's business partners. In addition to the obligatory web-based training on compliance and anti-corruption, specific trainings take place on the country level.
