Overall Environment
21. Briefly describe practical actions the company has taken during the reporting period and/or plans to take to implement the environment principles, including any challenges faced and actions taken towards prevention and/or remediation.
In recent years, social concern about climate change and the global consequences it may have has been increasing. This situation has motivated the Group to participate in the international effort to reduce greenhouse gases (GHG), established at the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP 21) in Paris, in which decisions were adopted to respect the objectives of fight against climate change. Likewise, the Group's firm commitment to energy efficiency and the reduction of emissions is not only part of the entity's commitment to the environment and the community. The fight against climate change is directly linked to the activity carried out by the Group. According to one of the UN analyses, it is certified that the same environmental aggressions behind climate change are the cause of pandemics such as the one caused by COVID-19. According to this study commissioned by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Biodiversity, "unsustainable exploitation" could be the cause of new diseases in the world. Likewise, the report "The Lancet Countdown" shows that the health indicators linked to global warming are worsening and will be a health challenge in the short-medium term, increasing the importance of reducing emissions for the recovery from the pandemic. Aware of all this, the Group continues to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by applying maintenance and control programs for air conditioning installations. During the 2021 financial year, we highlight the change of air transfer units for more efficient ones, as well as the progressive replacement of air conditioning equipment that contains refrigerant for water treatment units. Periodic technical reviews continue to be carried out to ensure that the facilities, which are likely to generate emissions into the atmosphere, will have optimal performance and will comply with the parameters established by the regulations. The Group not only focuses its efforts on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but also uses part of its resources to establish preventive and mitigation measures for other sources of atmospheric pollution, such as those from boilers diesel, which are progressively being replaced by natural gas boilers, this being the least polluting resource and the most used by the Group. In addition, the Group is committed to the electrification of transport by increasing its fleet of electric vehicles and increasing the number of recharging points in the car parks of its centres. It also focuses its efforts on reducing noise, incorporating the preventive systems indicated in the noise reports made. In order to comply with current state and regional regulations on air treatment equipment, the controls have been carried out with the established frequency and in accordance with the results of the biosafety controls in the rooms classified as risky. According to the European Green Deal, in September 2020 the European Commission should raise the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, studying the necessary measures in all sectors, including increased energy efficiency and renewable energy , which will allow the European Union to achieve a climate-neutral economy by 2050 and meet the commitments of the Paris Agreement. The most ambitious goals for 2030 include a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to 1990, at least a 32% share of renewable energies and a 32.5% improvement in efficiency energetic. Aware of this commitment, 99.4% of the electrical energy consumed by the Group comes from 100% renewable sources, in addition, during 2021 the saving measures established in the energy audits carried out in 2020 have been implemented, such as the improvements in the thermal envelope of its buildings, replacement of lights by LED system as well as those intended to improve heating and cooling installations, among others. One of the Group's most ambitious medium-term commitments is the construction of sustainable buildings. A clear example will be the new healthcare center in Barcelona with energy power A, the most efficient, which will have a facade for plant use, whose construction has a double positive effect: on the one hand, it will help maintain the internal temperature with less need of air conditioning systems and, on the other, it will offset the building's CO2 emission into the atmosphere thanks to the photosynthesis effect carried out by the plants on the façade.Anti-corruption
Commitment
1. Does the company have an anti-corruption compliance programme?
Optional commentCorruption is one of the main problems in the economic and social development of the whole world, causing unfavorable and unequal situations with those who participate in the market in accordance with the law. Corrupt practices distort the market by preventing proper business growth, increasing costs, driving away investment and causing criminal and reputational risks that translate into job destruction and poverty. The Group expresses its absolute rejection of any corrupt business activity and contrary to good practices, in any of its forms. It maintains an organization and management model aimed at preventing the commission of crimes, made up of various policies, including an Anti-Corruption Policy, a Gifts, Invitations and Hospitality Policy and a Conflicts of Interest Policy that bind all its personnel, regardless of the position and functions they perform. The policies, after the annual review by the ASISA Board of Directors, are signed and published through the usual means and are, from that moment, available to all the members of the Group, for the purpose of their full knowledge by administrators, directors, managers and employees. Any doubt, incident or complaint related to these policies may be raised through the Compliance Communication Channel. This channel is governed by the principles of good faith, confidentiality, right to honor, presumption of innocence, defense and non-retaliation, recognizing the anonymity of the caller. Failure to comply with this regulation will bring about the exercise of the corresponding legal actions, as well as the application of disciplinary measures in accordance with the provisions of the employment contract, the applicable collective agreement, the Workers' Statute and the rest of the labor regulations in force in Spain. In the case of infractions that constitute a crime, the Group will report said conduct to the competent authorities. Our model or system is subject to periodic evaluation and is updated taking into account changes related to the activities subject to control and internal organizational changes, as well as possible changes in the applicable regulations. From a training point of view, in order to strengthen knowledge of our policies and raise awareness of their importance and their impact on the decisions we make every day, we have continued to work on the campaign 'Compliance, always!' broadcast of four new episodes in the year 2021. In the relationship with our suppliers, the contracts that are signed include a specific compliance clause in which the ethical standards that must govern the contractual relationship for the prevention of fraudulent conduct are stated, in accordance with our Code of Ethics and the Code of Conduct from providers. In addition, in the event that breaches are detected by customers, suppliers and external collaborators, mechanisms will be activated to be able to put an end to existing contractual relationships.2.
