Palladium is tackling Human Rights issues both internally on a corporate level, and externally through the projects we implement for our clients. During the reporting period, we have been refreshing our Modern Slavery statements, we have refreshed training and policy commitments on Diversity and Inclusion. Looking outwards, we have been implementing a number of projects that aim to improve Human Rights across the globe, including: Human Development Innovation Fund, Identifying and supporting innovations that have the potential to create social impact in education and health and water, sanitation, and hygiene across Tanzania; and Data.FI, a project that will transform how data are used to accelerate HIV and COVID-19 epidemic control, moving us from a culture of retrospective reporting to prospective and prescriptive analytics that allow service providers to provide targeted yet differentiated prevention and treatment services in the highest need sites.Labour

During the reporting period, the company has engaged in several initiatives at the global corporate level, as well as implementing a number of labour related projects for clients. Some of our corporate initiatives include: reviewing a selection of key HR & TA policies and updating them accordingly, ensuring alignment with global good practice on Equity, Diversity & Inclusion; created an external facing report on our D&I progress incorporating key diversity stats and equal pay gap reporting for gender and ethnicity; and refreshing our Respectful Workplace slide deck and rolling out internal training. With regard to our implementing projects, a selection of Labour related projects that have been implementing during the reporting period include: Sustainable Outcomes of Children and Youth in Uganda, a project that aims to improve the health, nutrition, education and psychosocial wellbeing of vulnerable children, as well as reduce abuse, exploitation and neglect to these children; and the Challenge Fund for Youth Employment, a programme that aims to create a prosperous future for 200,000 young women and men in the Middle East, North Africa, Sahel & West Africa and Horn of Africa regions.Environment

This reporting period, a call was put out for ideas from our people to offset our 2020 carbon emissions; our Environmental Impact Assessment Tool was launched – all corporate offices and projects were asked to complete our EIA tool. In addition, the company is implementing a number of environmental projects for our clients, including but not limited to: In October 2021, Palladium and UK National Parks launched Revere – a financing facility for nature restoration; and Palladium has been appointed the Pacific Forest Governance Facilitator for the European Forest Institute’s Technical Assistance Project in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.Anti-corruption

In the reporting period, Palladium has been implementing Phase 2 of the Issues/Risk Registry, implementing a new online based whistleblower training policy, continued ad hoc training as required. Whistleblower posters were redesigned and redeployed last year and there is a current reminder out to all about whistleblower protection and to ensure that the new posters are displayed in every office, both corporate and project. The challenges the company faces include working in approximately 90 countries around the globe and therefore trying to ensure that the message gets out loud and clear; there are the additional difficulties of cultural and language differences – which we do what we can to address.
