    Overall Environment

    21. Briefly describe practical actions the company has taken during the reporting period and/or plans to take to implement the environment principles, including any challenges faced and actions taken towards prevention and/or remediation.

    1. Roof top solar project implemented at M&M in 2012-22 - around 1.2 MW solar capacity added within the plant premises and will take M&M's renewable energy share to over 50% by the end of the year. 2. In AHU applications and at paint shops, conventional energy intensive blower replaced with energy efficient EC (electronically computed) motors - consuming 30% less energy. 3. BLDC air circulators are most energy efficient air circulators which consume ~35-40% less energy compared to conventional air circulators. At M&M locations, nearly 200 old air circulators were replaced with BLDC air circulators in 2021-22. 4. PNG (pipe natural gas) is a cleaner fuel and emits lesser GHG/CO2 when replaced with electrical heating applications. 6 of our industrial washing machines have been converted from electrical to PNG heating in year 2021-22. 5. New containerized reverse osmosis plant installed which treats the STP water and converts waste water to potable water. The permeate water is being recycled for processes and cooling tower make water. 6. Infrastructure developed to recycle the treated ETP water for toilet flushings in washrooms. 7. Through shredders, waste carton box is being converted into re-usable packaging material - thus eliminating plastic packaging from the process.

    M&M Ltd. has an Anti-bribery and Anti-corruption Policy, Gifts and Entertainment Policy including guidelines for acceptance of gifts and entertainment by the company employees. While Mahindra has a Code of Conduct for Employees, it has also put in place a Supplier Code of Conduct where a declaration of compliance to the Supplier Code is taken by all suppliers. Mahindra launched a training module to be taken by all employees on anti-bribery and anti-corruption. Every year as a part of compliance, all employees need to sign off our Code of Conduct. Corporate Governance (CG) Cell reporting to the Board of Directors, oversees the implementation of the Code, policies, and their compliance. It is also the responsibility of the CG Cell to review the efficacy of the policies and suggest amendments to make them relevant to changing times. The CG Cell is responsible for monitoring compliance with the provisions of the Code of Conduct. The Corporate Governance Cell reviews the provisions of the Code from time to time and suggest such amendments as it considers necessary, to be relevant in changing circumstances. Employee performance appraisal systems assess the different aspects like maintaining ethical business standards, commitment to the business associates, commitments to the stakeholders, behaviour at workplace and protection of assets and information management.     The Ethics and Compliance Framework is currently being further strengthened by way of collecting entity-specific data, assessing and updating key elements of ethics framework which includes work like conducting discussions with senior and middle management, reviewing policies and procedures including the existing ethics framework, performing process walkthroughs with businesses, developing/updating policies and procedures including ABAC specific contractual clauses, developing the Ethics and Governance Framework Manual, reviewing and updating the monitoring and reporting mechanism, reviewing and updating trainings/communication material including micro-animation learning courses.
