Phoenix Design Aid has a concrete goal related to SDG target 12.2; to reduce paper-based printing. It is Phoenix Design Aid’s goal is to reduce the amount of paper used in the headquarter office by at least 5 per cent per year. From 2022, we will start monitoring paper use at the Panamanian subsidiary. Other goal is related to SDG target 13.1 as we seek to minimize our energy and carbon footprint. We are buying United Nations-issued emission credits and neutralizing all our CO2 emissions, but we want to plant trees in the future, instead of buying emission credits, to offset some of our carbon emissions. It is important to note that the number above is an estimated number. Phoenix Design Aid places demands on our suppliers related to the environment, for example via our Code of Conduct that they must comply with. We look for suppliers who, for example, have an ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) certificate, can provide CO2 neutralization of orders and use of FSC products where relevant. Our number is carefully estimated based on our experience with the products and suppliers over many years, but we work to improve data on sustainability and increase the share of sustainable products and services, for example by minimization and CO2 neutralization of air travel in the future. The products and services cover communication strategies, design, events and exhibitions, merchandise, printing, translating/editing, video and web/digital.

    Sector-specific Questions

    11. Which sector(s) does the company operate in? If diversified, choose top 3 by revenue.

    Overall Environment

    21. Briefly describe practical actions the company has taken during the reporting period and/or plans to take to implement the environment principles, including any challenges faced and actions taken towards prevention and/or remediation.

During the reporting period, Phoenix Design Aid has worked with a number of activities. The first is recertification in the company's three ISO certificates (achieved in March 2022), ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management). Specifically, ISO 14001 is closely related to our work with climate as it supports Phoenix Design Aid in the company's work towards a better environmental performance and comply with legislations, while also making sure that we have increased awareness on sustainability in general. In addition to this, risk assessment is a huge aspect of our ISO certificates, meaning that we do a risk assessment on our environmental conditions, including both direct (own) and indirect (suppliers and partners) environmental impacts. The risk assessment is done annually and plays a huge role for the activities that Phoenix Design Aid decides to either implement, change or work more with. Another activity is related to the company's continuous involvement with the SDGs. One example is our work with SDG target 13.1. Specifically, a tree planting project which purpose is to offset some of Phoenix Design Aid's carbon emissions in future by planting trees instead of buying emission credits. Currently, Phoenix Design Aid purchases United Nations-issued emission credits in order to neutralize its CO2 emissions. Since 2010, Phoenix Design Aid has prepared a carbon accounting report and, with this, receives a CEMAsys Climate Certificate™ as proof of purchase of carbon credits for the voluntary offset of its greenhouse gas emissions. Phoenix Design is also certified in target 13.3, which is about educating and raising awareness around climate change mitigation, and Phoenix Design Aid has developed a paper selection guide that helps its customers make environmentally friendly paper choices by explaining why it is important to choose eco-labelled paper. The guide also includes an overview of the different eco-labels and what each one means. Phoenix Design Aid also has an internal goal of reducing the amount of paper used in our offices by at least 5 per cent per year as a part of our support of SDG target 12.2 which is about sustainable management and use of natural resources. Read more about this goal on page 29 in our sustainability report 2022: https://phoenixdesignaid.com/sustainability-report-2022/.

    3. Who receives training on anti-corruption and integrity?

    Optional comment
Phoenix Design Aid does not have a verifiable transfer of knowledge in forms of a course/certificate, but all employees receive "training" on anti-corruption and integrity during the company's onboarding process. All employees are, for example, introduced to the company's handbook, certifications and Code of Conduct - all of which address the company's relation to anti-corruption and integrity. Moreover, all employees must comply with the company Code of Conduct that includes a section on anti-corruption and ethical business practice. This also applies for Phoenix Design Aid's suppliers, consultants and partners. In addition to the onboarding, Phoenix Design Aid addresses many topics in its internal communication to employees as well as external communication (for example via the company's sustainability report, social media and meetings). These topics can sometimes also include anti-corruption and integrity. And whenever the company makes an update to any internal policy, the company handbook or Code of Conduct, this is communicated internally (and externally if needed). Besides the above-mentioned actions, Phoenix Design Aid provides information to employees, contractors, suppliers, partners, etc. about this topic when necessary and in times of updates/changes.
