The health and safety of the many employees at Sund & Bælt’s infrastructure facilities is important in their day-to-day work. The size and layout of the facilities and the traffic associated with them demand attention to the working environment of employees and contractors. The most significant working environment risk is serious personal injury. Moving anywhere at a facility must be safe whether you perform inspections or operation and maintenance tasks. Everyone going on work assignments at Sund & Bælt facilities must have completed and passed a compulsory safety course. To ensure the best possible working environment conditions for those carrying out operational and maintenance tasks on the Storebælt motorway system, motor vehicle traffic can be blocked on parts of the motorway by means of new moveable barriers during major works or campaigns. The work can be carried out safely and undisturbed with traffic driving in two directions on the opposite side of the central reservation. At railway facilities, most of the operation and maintenance work is scheduled at night to cause minimal disruption to train traffic. At those hours, blocking one railway track at a time to perform tasks is feasible.Environment

In 2021, Øresundsbro Konsortiet A/S replaced 4,500 fluorescent tubes with LED fluorescent lamps in the Øresund fixed link’s tunnel. The upgrading of the 20-year-old light sources with LED fluorescent lamps increases the burn time from 70,000 to 100,000 hours and results in a reduction in energy consumption of approximately 50 percent compared with the old fluorescent tubes. The replacement provides energy savings of 9.6 GWh during the 11-year estimated service life, which corresponds to 1.5 years of energy consumption on the entire Øresund fixed link or heat pump consumption of 50 single family homes for 11 years.Anti-corruption

Sund & Bælt does not tolerate corruption in any form and complies with the provisions of the UN Convention against corruption. In addition, Sund & Bælt seeks to avoid contributing to corruption. To manage the internal risk, Sund & Bælt has implemented a number of guidelines for the use of company funds, gift policy and travel policies. An anonymous whistleblower scheme has also been established. In order to handle the external risk, Sund & Bælt follows applicable tender regulations, and all suppliers must sign the company's code of conduct for responsible supplier management when entering into a contract.
